The assessment in which your employee participated has provided insight into his or her talents and development areas. While discussing the results, participants often indicate that they want to start working on the formulated development areas. They often ask whether it is possible to do this at our office. After all, trust is already established and we have full insight into the participant’s learning needs and learning style. An additional intake before the training and coaching can start. Is not needed. That saves time and money.
Of course, our training is also available for participants who did not participate at one of our assessments, but do want to enhance their behavioral skills. Before participating in a training we do ask the participant to complete a personality questionnaire and a self-description. In this way we will have better insight into learning style and developability. This contributes to the ability to deliver tailor-made training sessions.
Based on 25 years of experience and approximately 85,000 behavioral assessments, we have identified four skills that have the most influence on impactful and effective communication. This can be in a managerial context (team manager, project leaders, business unit managers), but also in relation to communication between colleagues, with customers and stakeholders. Based on these four skills we developed the unique ROTS training.
What do the letters ROTS stand for and what will you learn?
The letter R stands for ‘reflection on process and emotional level’. While communicating people are often very focused on the content of the message. By paying more attention to process, leaving the content for a moment for what it is, you will get an even better grip on the conversation, hidden messages and motives will come to the surface faster. Switching from content to process also has a positive effect on atmosphere, openness and involvement of the participants. The ability to reflect on other people’s feelings contributes to your ability to get closer to underlying problems, feelings and needs. In addition, the other person will feel even more truly understood and recognized. …
The letter O stands for ‘open and objective judgment’. People often think that “The smarter a person is, the faster he or she will be able to read and analyze a situation”. In our experience, this is a proposition that certainly does not always hold true. Assumptions, suppositions, laziness, thinking too quickly, often leads to an opinion or judgement that is superficial or even totally incorrect. By devoting much more time to forming your judgment in an open and exploring way, you will be able to make decisions that will be in line with the needs of the other person and the situation. A ROTS training will make you much more effective in the field of problem analysis and approach.
The letter T stands for ‘transparency’. In effective communication it is important to make clear what you what you stand for and what you think. That provides clarity. Transparency will help people to ‘read’ you more quickly, and it will be crystal clear where you stand and what you expect.
The letter S stands for ‘style flexibility’. Being able to employ a variety of behavioral styles will help you to react flexibly to different circumstances, and purposefully switch styles effectively when the situation demands it. A ROTS training will help enhance your flexibility.
We employ experienced behavioral trainers and actors who are specialized in training ROTS skills.
A prerequisite for participation in a ROTS training is to be able to deal with feedback and dare to experiment with skills that need to be trained. Also, openness and a healthy dose of self-reflection are required. We offer a safe and pleasant learning climate and there is plenty of room to bring in situations you want to practice with.
Research shows that the effective application of ROTS skills by managers also has a positive effect on reducing absenteeism within the team or department. This means a considerable reduction in costs and a healthier working environment. By increasing style flexibility, participants also appear to move more easily and effectively in an AGILE environment.
Variation 1: short intensive program after participation in an assessment, 4 hours
On the basis of the development areas formulated in the assessment, the ROTS skills will receive further attention. During the 4 training hours, you will gain even more insight into the effect of your own approach, but you will also be given the opportunity to practice with the use of the named 4 skills. An intensive, constructive and person-oriented approach ensures that you can use the ROTS skills with more insight, self-confidence and flexibility. …
Variation 2: short intensive program without having participated in an assessment, 4 hours
If you haven’t participated in an assessment at our office, it is of course still possible to participate in a ROTS training. The personality survey and the self-description form will be provided by us.
Variation 3: intensive program after participation in an assessment, 4 half-day sessions, 1 half-day session per month.
An intensive development program, consisting of 4 half-day sessions, which can be tailored to your agenda. Within this set up you can frequently practice with making the ROTS skills your own. By practicing more, not only during the training days themselves, but also in your daily work environment, the new skills can really integrate into your behavioral repertoire. We also offer the possibility, in consultation with our actors, to introduce situations from your work environment as case studies.

Variant 4 : intensive program without having participated in an assessment, 4 half-day sessions, 1 half-day session per month.

After the training of 4 half-day sessions (variant 3 and 4) you will take part in an “aptitude test”. You will participate in some role-plays in which all ROTS skills will come back. If it turns out that you can use the skills in an effective, person-oriented and style flexible manner, but in which you also stay in touch, easily understand the underlying problems and needs of the other, the training concludes with the award of the official ROTS certificate.
